Wellborn Custom Carpentry by Bart Wellborn – Carpenter Southern Maine. Work includes custom furniture, renovations, finish work, kitchens and bathrooms.
Wellborn Custom Carpentry is owned by Bart Wellborn and operated out of Saco, ME. WCC was started with a mission to bring high quality craftsmanship to building, remodeling, finish and furniture. Bart has been in this industry since 1982, starting in Marblehead, MA. While taking courses at Wentworth Institute in Boston, he worked for a local residential builder and began learning his craft. He moved to Maine in 1986 and worked for several other residential builders, spending four years with a company focused on “green” energy efficient homes. WCC has now been in operation since 2001.
On the Beach Renovation:
This kitchen renovation involved reworking a wall, replacing an entry door, and building soffits with crown molding to house recessed lighting.
Living Room Crown Molding:
Installed 7” crown molding throughout the first floor.
Built a bank of cabinets with Shaker style legs and book shelves sitting on a mahogany countertop to house music, stereo and sound equipment as well as installing window trim, cove molding and a beadboard ceiling to create a new Music Studio in the basement of a house.
3 Story Stairs:
Installed stairs using mahogany stair treads and rails.

Sea Cliff House Reception Desk:
Built a mahogany and maple reception design with file cabinets to maximize efficient check-in and check-out in a small room.
Ice Cream Cone Holders:
Handcrafted Cherry ice cream holders for a pizza restaurant in Portland.
Scarborough Carrera Marble Kitchen:
Installed cabinets, farmer’s sink, range hood, columns and wine rack.
Saco Cherry Kitchen:
Refinished existing drawer and door fronts and installed a range hood including ductwork to vent outside. Built a new island to accommodate a larger oven unit and wine rack, and replaced the entire floor with hardwood.
Ocean Park Deck:
Built “Treks” Deck and adjacent shower stall.
Mr. Goodbar in Old Orchard Beach:
Built the bar with a poured poly top and lava lamps inserted below.

Installed beadboard in this guest bathroom.
Hand-Crafted floor to ceiling cherry hutch with crown molding and adjustable shelves.
Designed & Hand-crafted a Ship’s Captain’s Table with Honduran, African mahogany and Maple woods.
California Coffee Table:
Made from Padouk, Mahogany and Brazilian Cherry. Designed higher than most coffee tables a small apartment in downtown LA for eating & entertaining (and watching TV).
Cherry Storage Bed and Side Tables:
This solid Cherry bed has four deep dove-tail drawers with dividers to hold more than most bureaus. The end tables are also cherry and wall hung to allow the drawers to operate effectively.
Allagash Bar Table:
Built the top out of Ash with a removable lazy-suzan on top of an Allagash Beer Barrel for an outside entertainment area.
Old Orchard Beach Kitchen:
Designed and expanded this kitchen to have three times the original counter space, cabinets and the feel that it had before its transformation by moving the oven wall back 6 feet and opening the ceiling to the rafters.
Solar Tube Lighted Bathroom:
Beadboard, crown molding and shelves have transformed this bathroom with its high ceilings from an adjacent hallway for a more comfortable space. With no windows in the bathroom, the solar tubes were added to mimic sunlight all day long.
Scarborough Ocean View:
This was a structural renovation to open up a living room by removing walls to the enclosed wrap around porch. This brought their ocean views into the living space, while keeping the rich wood surfaces and feel.
Created a Cherry knitting table with a rotating top and self-closing drawers for yarn.

Designed and built a mahogany dining room table with an inlaid compass made from different species of wood.

Old Orchard Beach Airbnb:
This was a complete renovation of an existing two room apartment from frame to finish. Supporting walls were removed and replaced with overhead beams to create an open concept living space. The porch has tapered columns and custom made rafter tails to match this Craftsman Style Home.
Dunegrass 3-Season Room:
This 3 season addition has allowed the owners to enjoy the view of the golf course without the worry of errant golf balls. It was constructed using door panels which secure screens as well as glass inserts depending on the season.
Front Porch Renovation:
This front porch has been enclosed and winterized with windows and beadboard to expand the owners’ interior living space.
